Cycling from one coast to another on the Trans Canada Trail is only a dream right now. The trail is completed in some areas, but not in its entirety. The goal of the project is to reach completion by 2017 – for Canada’s 150th birthday and the Trails 25th birthday. There are certainly some areas.
The Trans Canada Highway sounds like a great and easy way to cross the country. However there are certain stretches of highway where cycling is not permitted. It is important to be prepared.
Cycling in BC is full of amazing views, challenging climbs, and something new around every corner. However, there are lots of specifics regarding which parts of which highways you can cycle on, and which bridges have special rules regarding cycling. Be sure to be prepared.
